Britney Spears’ Twitter account has been hacked several times. A fake account was created in minister Shashi Tharoor’s name and fake messages sent to thousands of his followers on Twitter. Amy Polumbo won the Miss New Jersey 2007 title. A few months later she received a package containing scandalous pictures of her partying with friends. The anonymous sender threatened to make the photographs public if she didn’t surrender her crown.
A lot of these troubles could be avoided if users of social networking sites are careful and learn the basics of security, according to Ankit Fadia, one of India’s best known computer hackers and an independent consultant.
