Fusion 

Nuclear Fusion occurs on the sun because of the massive pressures caused by the suns gravitational force. Those who attempt to use fusion as a form of energy are attempting to mimic the suns conditions – however creating a pressure that is high enough is very difficult. We help create fusion by creating temperatures of 100 000 000 degrees C in a tokamak device. (More on this later)

In order for Fusion to occur there needs to be plasma – the fourth state of matter. Plasma is essentially a bunch of ions, which works because these ions get caught in a massive electric field created by a massive torus shaped coil called the tokamak. The tokamak must be torus shaped so that the plasma ions never escape the field: they are stuck in the field.
